Hundreds of teachers and school faculty from districts across North Texas packed Region 9 to gain insight into how to positively impact students’ lives in the classroom.

“Today is our collaboration for growth team-up for success conference,” said Region 9 Digital Engagement Lead, Christy Johnson. “We have our content areas as well as our special programs all collaborating together to allow teachers to hear from all different specialties and kind of divisions of education so they can better meet the needs of their students in today’s classrooms.”

Johnson said it just keeps getting bigger and more beneficial each and every year they’ve held the conference.

"It’s kind of morphed and evolved over time. It used to be a STEM conference and kind of a math-science,” said Johnson. “You know, a few years ago, we decided to kind of meld this together with some of our special programs like Special Education, Gifted and Talented, our ESL and Bilingual programs, kind of all coming together so that we get all those different tools and strategies for teachers,” Johnson said.

While sharing new ideas with one another in hopes of returning back to their schools with some new tools to try out that could have a lasting impact on their students.

“The biggest takeaway is really just adding to our toolbox so that they can meet the needs of the students that come into their classroom,” Johnson said. “Each year. Those needs sometimes feel big, and this hopefully gives them some specific tools and some connections with people, and some collaboration that shows them that they really can do that.”

And start the new school year off with confidence, knowing they’ll be changing lives.
